Redirect & HTTP Status Checker Trace 301, 302 and Redirect Chains

See exactly where a link goes. This tool follows each redirect one step at a time and shows the status code, the response time and the final address, so you can find redirect chains, loops and wrong redirects that hurt your rankings.

What this tool checks

  • Every redirect hop and its status code (301, 302, 307, 308)
  • Response time of each step
  • Redirect chains longer than two steps
  • HTTP to HTTPS redirect
  • The final destination address and status

How to use it

  1. Enter the address you want to trace.
  2. Press Check Redirects.
  3. Review each hop. Aim for one 301 redirect straight to the final page.

Why it matters for hotels, resorts and tour operators

When you move or rename a page, a correct 301 redirect passes visitors and search ranking to the new address. Long chains slow the page down and lose some ranking value, and a wrong 302 can stop Google from updating its index.

Check your old domain, your www and non-www versions, and your http version. All of them should end at one secure address in a single step.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?
A 301 is permanent and passes ranking to the new address. A 302 is temporary and tells Google to keep the old address.
What is a redirect chain?
A chain happens when one address redirects to another, which redirects again. Each extra step slows the page and can lose ranking value.
How many redirects are too many?
Keep it to one. Two is acceptable. More than that should be cleaned up.
Why does my site redirect in a loop?
Usually two rules fight each other, such as a www rule and an SSL plugin. The tool shows where the loop starts.
Can you fix my redirects?
Yes. We handle redirects as part of website migrations and technical SEO.
